    About Steel Mental Performance

    Our Story

    Steel Mental Performance was created by Lindsey Hopson. Lindsey's goal with SMP was to create a service that could empower and teach athletes and elite performers how to consistently give their best in all situations.

     Lindsey grew up playing volleyball, but suffered a career-ending injury. Through her injury, she found sport psychology. Using the tools that had been taught to her, she felt a calling to help other athletes remain in the game mentally and physically. 

    Steel is highly malleable, meaning it can be molded and put under intense pressure without losing its integrity. The human brain has the same resilient ability when trained to do so.

Sport and performance psychologists focus on identifying and applying psychological principles that facilitate peak sport performance, enhance people’s participation in physical activities and help athletes achieve optimal human performance (APA, 2024).


    The field of sport and performance psychology focuses on providing every performer the tools to harness their inner edge by increasing the ability to perform, as well as the ability to thrive in the face of setbacks. Professionals in the field of sport and performance psychology conduct research, training, and serve the comprehensive mental needs of performers' in order to elevate their performance and well-being so they can maximize their potential.


    At Steel Mental Performance, we believe that true wellness is about more than just physical health. It's about unlocking your full potential and living your best life. Our comprehensive approach to wellness includes personalized coaching and mindfulness practices designed to help you or your team achieve the goals set and to maximize potential!

    Team sessions are offered to sports teams and small teams of first responders. Team sessions are designed to fit your unique needs. Some skills covered in a team session can include goal setting, using visualization and improving focus

    Individual sessions are for the individual who wants to take their performance to the next level! These are one-on-one sessions that are tailored to your needs and development. These sessions can be applied, meaning there is some sort of experience of the skill, or they can be knowledge-based only.

    Large groups consist of 50+ individuals and may include first responders, teachers, business executives, or any group of individuals with an emotionally and physically demanding job. Large group engagements can cover skills such as tackling burnout or learning ways to stay mentally focused under large amounts of pressure.
